Description
Abstract
The forest layer represents forest program lands; managed forest land, woodland tax land, and private forest crop; issued by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR). The layer was derived from WDNR forest program orders and mapped using orthophotos as reference for the forest edge. The forest layer is available in a county-wide or individual layer for each township, city, or village. The layer is based on the Waupaca County Coordinate System (WCCS).
Purpose
This information is intended to be used primarily for the indentification and representation of forest program lands to assist the Waupaca County Property Listering Office in their daily activities.

Process step 1
Process description: The forest layer was derived by first using the WDNR Forest Program Orders Documents and mylar tax maps to locate forest program lands. Then, the forest program lands were drawn using a combination of extracting arcs from the parcel layer and heads-up digitizing forest edges using orthophotos.

Horizontal positional accuracy
Relative horizontal positional accuracy for the placement of the forest boundary lines is dependent upon the 1994 orthophotos and the parcel layer. The orthophotos are based on a 1"=1,700' scale flight that produced 1"=200' scale digital orthophotos, with a 2' pixel size. The parcel layer has an estimated relative horizontal positional accuracy at +/- 2.5 feet in 1000 feet in platted areas and +/-5 feet in 100' in un-platted areas.
